April Announcements

Welcome back from Spring Break!

We sure hope everyone was able to get a little R&R and gain some rejuvenation for this next stretch - it’s going to be a ride!  As you can see below, April is full of activities - and this is only some of what’s going on.  We also have the culminating competitions taking place in our various sports, arts, and clubs - so do your best to keep up!  We will do our best to keep you informed of everything and will likely increase our communication via these Blackboard messages and/or through our Facebook page, so stay tuned.  Below are the dates/times of some events to be aware of:

April/May -  ISAT Testing for 11th graders continues with the ELA and Math assessments (click here for schedule

April 3 (during Tutorial) - "3rd Annual Staff vs. Students Basketball Game - Jan Hughes Scholarship Fundraiser” (students must purchase tickets ahead of time through the office to be able to attend).  Parents are welcome to attend and can purchase tickets through the office or at the door (tickets are $5.00).

April 10 - SAT/Sr. Project Day - This is the date for the SAT test (for 11th graders who elected to take the test) and the Senior Project (for all 12th Graders).  On this date (which is a Wednesday), 9th and 10th graders - as well as any 11th grader not signed up to take the SAT - will NOT COME TO SCHOOL (they have the day off).  Please plan accordingly.  Also, 11th graders will be released after they complete the SAT test (which is usually between noon and 1:00 PM).  12th graders will only come for the allotted hour they’re signed up for (to present their Senior Project).  Buses will run as normal, so special transportation will need to be arranged.

April 17 - “Purple Up” day: As we continue to honor the “Month of the Military Child” throughout the month of April, this day has been set aside specifically to do so by wearing your purple to show your support! Please feel free to share photos with staff so we can share them with others!  We are grateful for our military and the opportunity we have to serve their children!!!

April 17th - Spring Sports/Activities Pep Rally (student body) - MHHS Gym - Assembly before lunch (10:50 - noonish); modified bell schedule.

April 20 – 8:00 – 11:00 PM: PROM AT THE GALA!!!  This dance will take place at the Gala Event Center here in town (165 N 2nd East).

Tickets are:

  • Singles $25 and couples $45

April 23 - 7:00 PM: Creative Art Awards Banquet – MHHS Gymnasium

April 24 - MHHS Career Fair: grade levels will be released at specific times to go down to the gym and gym foyer area to talk with a variety of businesses, entrepreneurs, college representatives, military folks, and much more.  (12:35 PM - 2:45 PM). We will have our Tutorial period moved to the end of the day and will have a modified bell schedule, as well.

May 1 – Academic Assembly/Department Awards - MHHS Gym – This will take place during Tutorial time. There will be an adjusted bell schedule that day as well.
