You Can Help!
The Idaho Legislature passed HB790 this session, and it has now been signed by the Governor. The bill includes a formula for distributing $72 million in Literacy Funding to K-3rd graders partially based on their Idaho Reading Indicator test scores, comparing Spring 2021 to Spring 2022. There is also additional funding for a student identified as economically disadvantaged. As you know, school breakfasts and lunches have been free for all students the past two years, so we were not required to collect Free and Reduced Applications. The USDA Food Service Program has recently announced that all meals will no longer be free for all students starting in August, so we will once again be asking families to complete those forms.
While we realize this timing is less than ideal, we are asking families to please complete the Free and Reduced Application at www.mymealtime.com or by picking up the form at the office of your child’s school. If for some reason, you have already filled out the form this year, you don’t need to do it again. All students that qualify this year, will be eligible for Free or Reduced Meals for the first 30 days of school next year, so that is a positive. Families would still need to fill out an application next year before the 30 days are up.
Thank you for your assistance and we apologize for the timing of everything. All applications need to be completed by May 25th.
