Special Education
Welcome to the Special Education Services for Mountain Home School District. We offer a continuum of services for students from preschool through age 21 that address a variety of student and family needs and concerns. Our program goals, curriculum and materials are developmentally appropriate and focused towards meeting the individual needs of students. The district, in cooperation with parents and nonpublic school agencies, engages in Child Find services throughout the school year. Child Find activities are conducted (1) to create public awareness of special education programs, (2) to advise the public that students who qualify for services have the right to a free appropriate public education and confidentiality protections, and (3) to alert community residents that a process exists for identifying and serving children with disabilities from the age of 3 through the semester in which they turn 21. If you know of a child who is 3 through 21 years of age who may have individual needs that result from disabilities or developmental delays, and who is not enrolled in a school special education program, please contact the school's principal or teacher where the child attends for school age children and Julie Snyder, (208) 587-2580, for children from 3 to 5 years old. These children may have significant difficulty walking, talking, hearing, or learning, or may display behaviors that appear significantly different from other children their age. Pre-School Screening for 2020-21 school year Children living in the Mountain Home School District between the ages of 3 and 5 are encouraged to go through a screening process. The screening is to find children who may have a developmental delay. However, the screening is open to any child. They must be 3 years old prior to the screening date. An appointment is required; contact Julie Snyder to schedule an appointment. All screenings will be held at West Elementary, 415 West 2nd North, Mountain Home. Contact Julie Snyder at school district office at (208) 587-2580 if you have questions. 2020 - 2021 Preschool screening dates:
