Election Information
School District Elections
There are two types of elections in a school district. One type is for a trustee, the other type is generally for levy or bond election.
- Trustee Elections: Only eligible voters with their permanent residence within the boundaries of the particular trustee zone position up for election, whether living in the city limits or in the county portion of that trustee zone, may vote for that trustee candidate(s). No other patrons living in other zones may vote.
- Levy and Bond Elections: Only eligible voters with their permanent residence within the boundaries of the Mountain Home School District, whether living in the city limits or in the county, may vote in a Mountain Home School District Levy or Bond Election. Residents from Prairie, Glenns Ferry, Bruneau, Grand View, Hammett, Kings Hill, and any other community outside the Mountain Home School District MAY NOT vote in Mountain Home School District Levy and Bond Elections because they have their own school district and elections.
- Pine-Featherville, Atlanta: Those individuals with their permanent residence in Pine-Featherville area and Atlanta may vote in Mountain Home School District elections. Those individuals who have cabins, trailers, etc., in the Pine-Featherville area or Atlanta, but have a different permanent address elsewhere, such as in Glenns Ferry, Jerome, Twin Falls, etc., MAY NOT vote in the Mountain Home School District Elections unless they are willing to change their permanent address to Pine or Atlanta.
- Military Personnel and their families: Military personnel may only vote in Mountain Home School District elections if they are a legal Idaho resident; they may choose to change their permanent state of residency, but it is advisable to check on the tax laws of their permanent state. The same applies to the spouses of military personnel; however, spouses may have a different legal residence from their military member. Again, it is advisable to research the tax benefits. Spouses with Idaho drivers' licenses and working in Idaho, but their permanent state of residency is elsewhere are considered non-resident employees. (MHAFB is divided between Zone 2 and Zone 3)
