WHAT IS AR (ACCELERATED READER)?
-
Accelerated Reader is a computerized reading
program that tests the student's comprehension of a book they have just
finished reading.
-
Students accumulate "points" which are
a measure of how much reading practice the student is getting.
-
The reading level of the AR book and its point
value are on the inside cover of each AR book. The point value
of an AR book is determined by its level and length .
-
We have over 10,000 books that students can AR
test on. Students are allowed to check out 1 AR book plus a
non AR book that would be of interest to the student.
-
We encourage you, as parents, to read at
least 20 minutes a day with your child.
Feel free to stop by our library any time to see what
reading materials are available to your children or click on the link
below for a list of AR tests available at our school.
