Nampa Dual Friday, March 15 Complete results
The Tigers hosted the Nampa Bulldogs on a cool Friday
afternoon at Tiger Field. In the
first meet of the season Nampa came away with wins in both boys and girls team
scoring.
Nampa posted a 89-64 win in the boys competition and a 77-69 win on the
girls side. “For the first
meet of the season, our coaches saw some good results.” coach Urquidi said.
“We have quite a few new athletes, so with this being their first
varsity meet, we can now sit down, evaluate their performances and move them
around accordingly.”
In the boys pole vault, the Tigers went 1-2-3.
Senior Aaron Howard and junior Ian Falo
both went 11 feet, but Aaron won on misses. Sophomore Grant Smith placed
third at 10 feet. Brandon Maughn,
first year senior, tied for first in the 100m at 12.3 seconds, while junior,
Will Fields placed third at 12.3 seconds. In
his first varsity meet Brandon also came in third in 200m, being timed at 25.3
seconds. The Tigers has another
1-2-3 sweep in the 300m intermediate hurdles.
Senior, Tony Brown (49.2), freshman, Cory Bernaiche(50.7) and junior,
Chad Helmick(55.3) respectively. Cory
Bernaiche also won the 110m high hurdles, to sweep the boys hurdles at 19.2
seconds. In the throws, Will Fields
won the shot with a put of 40 feet 3 inches and senior Sam Hooley won the discus
at 118 feet 3 inches. Sophomore,
Alvaro Salas place second in the 1600m with a time of 5 minutes 34.1 seconds.
The boys relay won the 4x100m (46.5), 4x200m (1:43.8) and the 4x400m
(4:22.2).
The trio of seniors, Jennifer Donatelli (39-09.75) and
Denice Wade (28-03.5) and junior, Cassi Vaught (26-05) swept the girls shot put.
In the discus, Jennifer and Denice also went 1-2 with throws of 135 feet
2.6 inches and 65 feet respectfully.
Senior, Gayle Knutzen tied her school record vault of 8 feet to win the
pole vault. Sophomores, Tiffany
Robins and Bethany Gliddon placed second and third, with vaults of 6 feet 6
inches and 6 feet. Freshman Lauren
Kisner won the 100m with a time of 14.8 seconds.
Senior, Tonya Rosenberger placed second in the 200m (30.5) and freshman,
Amanda Balus place third in the
1600m at 7 minutes 39.6 seconds. In
the 100m high hurdles, senior, Launa Ketterling won with a time of 20.2 seconds.
Senior Erin Hicks won the triple jump (31’ 03”), while senior,
Kristen Lothrop placed second in the long jump at 14 feet 2.25 inches.
The Tigers sprint medley relay won with a time of 2 minutes 13.6 seconds.
Up next for the Tigers, before taking a week off for
spring break, is a triangular Wednesday March 20, at Bishop Kelly High School
with the Caldwell Cougars and the Knights of Bishop Kelly. “We get right back into action on Wednesday due to
parent-teacher conferences.” Quoted coach Urquidi.
“Bishop Kelly has a lot of returning athletes. They will give of all we can handle. The coaches and athletes are looking to improve this week and
also some better weather. We had a
few strained muscles Friday. The
weather has been so cold. We
can’t wait to get some nice weather, so we can really get down to some
work.”
