May 17 & 18, 2001 A-1 Div. 2 State Championships Complete Results
The Tigers took 15 athletes to the State Championships held at Boise State University. Junior, Jennifer Donatelli competing in her third State Championship, took home gold in the discus with a meet record, 136 feet 10 inch throw. Jenn also took silver in the shot put (40' 0.25"). Erin Hicks, also competing at State for the third time, placed third in the triple jump with a personal best 35 feet 2.75 inches. Erin also competed in the long jump (15' 10.5") placing seventh. Kristen Lothrop, also a junior, placed seventh in the triple jump (32' 7.5") in her first State competition. She also jumped 15 feet 5.5 inches in the long jump.
On the boys side, sophomore, Simual Johnson placed seventh in both hurdles with times of 15.91 seconds in the 110m highs and 44.15 seconds in the 300m intermediates. Sim also competed in the high jump (5' 8"). John Reinschmidt, a senior, also placed seventh in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 10 inches. The boys 1600m sprint relay team consisting of freshman Joe Gonzalez, sophomore Justin Wiley and seniors Brent Tortolano and Chris Hansen placed fifth with a time of 3:42.26.
Other athletes competing were: seniors, David Tucker - high jump (5'8"), Brent Tortolano - 400m (53.28) and Karen Mercado - 3200m (12:49.07); junior, Launa Ketterling - 100m HH (18.12) and 300m IH (52.34); sophomore, Justin Wiley - 1600m (4:51.41); and freshmen Alvaro Salas - 3200m (11:05.67) and Kristen McDaniel - 400m (1:02.72).
