Dear Sports’ Coaches, Athletes and Parents,

This is an informative letter to explain the roll of MHHS Booster Club to the coaches, athletes and the parents of Mountain Home High School students.

Volunteer parents that are committed throughout the school year and possibly beyond run the club to help out the coaches and athletes in various sports and other lettered programs, like cheerleading, band, choir etc. The club has a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, media person and sponsorship person. There are no dues to join this club.

At our meetings we try and assign parental liaisons from the sports that are going on at that time frame. These liaisons keep the boosters informed of the needs of the coaches, their plans for the season and important dates and events coming up in the season. These parents are very important to the success of our program.

At the beginning of the school year we have businesses that sponsor the booster club and they purchase packages that get us started with our booster fund. We advertise these businesses with the help of Grubbrother’s here in town, in the gym and on the football field. We sit down as a group and purchase clothing and items to sell at games to help continue to raise money throughout each season. We also sell booster club passes to families interested in entrance into home games. The club also works at the concession stand and tailgates at the football games to help raise money and last year our fashion show was a great success to also increase that fund.

With all the monies raised our club provides services for our coaches and their athletes such as, free buttons for the parents to wear in support of their athlete, Mum and Pop night at Senior Night for seniors, we provide corsages for moms and bottled root beer for the dads. During the districts we go out and purchase snacks and we all get together and make snack bags for every player, manager and coach to eat on one of their first district games.

When it is time for the banquets at season’s end, we get in touch with the coach or their parental liaison to get the number of lettered players. Those lettered players and their coaches each receive $6.00 to use for their banquet dinner for each sport.

At the end of the year, we put together an application for all those lettered students to apply for the chance to win (depending on our fundraising efforts) one or two of our MHHS Booster Club scholarships. At the awards ceremony held in the gym, one of our representatives will present those that won, their scholarships to be applied to the college that they will attend in the fall.

We take a picture of the athletes that have lettered in three sports and have that picture mounted onto a plaque, and each student receives their own individual plaque as well. This plaque is displayed in the foyer booster window located at the main entrance for all to see the accomplishments that those students have made in their sports.

Our main job here is to work with parents, coaches, and their athletes to better serve and support them. We can’t do it alone and we are always looking for new parents coming up in the grades to help us out so the parents with graduating students can pass their positions on to them. We have future purchase goals, like a giant flag that will re-track down from the ceiling and maybe a new Tiger Mascot Costume but none of this can happen without the support of everyone. We are trying to come up with new and fun ideas to help support our athletics department but we can’t do it alone. Please pass on this information so we can continue our work for you.

Thank you
