The Central District Health Department is offering an immunization clinic to the Mountain Home Junior High School during our fall Parent/Teacher conferences. The clinic will be on October 23, 2014 from 2:00 - 7:00pm in room 110 at the junior high school. Flu season is just around the corner - now is the time to get your student vaccinated! CDHD will administer ALL types of childhood vaccinations, including, but not limited to, the 7th grade state required Tdap (otherwise known as whooping cough), and Meningococcal (meningitis) as well as the seasonal flu shot. They are requesting that you call to arrange a time so they can have a better idea of how many may be coming BUT no one will be turned away if they are a walk in on that day.

Please call 580-6001 to reserve a time slot for your child. Students will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to complete the necessary paperwork.

PLEASE bring your childs immunization records to the clinic!!!

Cost: CDHD will bill your insurance or Medicaid (if enrolled) - please bring your child's insurance card. An administration fee of $20.13 per vaccine will be charged for students without insurance. Eligible households may qualify for a sliding fee.


We are now ready to begin our after-school academic support programs.  Beginning next Monday, 9/22, students will have the opportunity to stay after school and receive help with their studies.  Right now we have 2 staff members heading up the programs.  Between the two of them, academic support will be offered from 3:10PM – 4:00 PM each week, Monday through Thursday. 

Students will be provided a snack each day they attend.  Other incentives for marked improvements may follow.  Unfortunately, transportation will need to be arranged, since we cannot offer this service. 

The specific information on the teachers’ schedules is as follows:

  • Mr. Kerfoot (Room 226) will hold “Tutoring” sessions Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. He will work primarily with math, though always willing to help in other areas.
  • Mr. Lopez (Room 219) will hold “Homework Club” on Mondays and Tuesdays. He is slated to work with other subjects (besides math), but also will help in any needed subject.

If you can help us by directing your child to the classroom in which your child needs help, it will help streamline this process.

The State Department of Health and Welfare, Immunization Program, has done an audit on our school’s immunization records and according to our records your child is missing one or both of these immunizations. Please review your child’s immunization record or check the status with your child’s physician and provide a current updated copy to the office.

Attention all those interested in JH sports participation:

Students will need a current physical on file at the JH office.  One physical is all that is required during a student’s JH activities career; however, an Interim Questionnaire must be complete each year a physical is not conducted. Other paperwork that must be completed each year are the Emergency Contact Information, the Athletic Release and Participation Information, and the Athletic Participation Agreement.  All can be found in the handbook on the MHJH Sports page or picked up in the office.

An Activity Card ($7.50) is required and should be paid for in the office (please see Mrs. Wing).

Spirit Packs will be available with all sports having options for $25 or less. The coaches will have more information regarding spirit packs.
