MILESTONES FOR KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 4TH GRADE

Grade K:
Obtain a 3 on the state assessment known as the IRI.

How does my child accomplish this?

Know all capital and lower case letters and be able to identify 43 in one minute.

Know all letter sounds and be able to identify 30 sounds in one minute.

Know some sight words such as: a, the, I said, your, is, and are.

 

Grade 1:
Obtain a 3 on the state assessment known as the IRI.

How does my child accomplish this?

Be able to recognize 31 (or more) letter sounds in a minute in the fall.

Be able to recognize 72 letter sounds in a minute, plus read 53 words per minute, in the spring.

 

Grade 2:
Obtain a 3 on the state assessment known as the IRI.

How does my child accomplish this?

Read 54 (or more) words per minute in the fall.

Read 92 (or more) words per minute in the spring.

 

Grade 3:
a.) Obtain a 3 on the state assessment known as the IRI.

How does my child accomplish this?

Read 77 words per minute in the fall.

Read 110 words per minute by the spring.

b.) Obtain the level of "proficient" on the state assessment known as the ISAT (Idaho State Achievement Test).

What score is considered proficient in reading, math, and lanugage on these computerized test?

Reading: 192-207

Math:    190-203

Language Arts: 196-206 

 

Grade 4:
Obtain the level of "proficient" on the state assessment known as the ISAT (Idaho State Achievement Test)

What score is considered proficient in reading, math, and language on these computerized test?

Reading: 198

Math:  201

Language:  203
