Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year at East Elementary.  I am excited to begin a new school year full of opportunities and challenges for both staff and students.

East Elementary has a reputation for being a high quality school with dedicated staff members who work cooperatively with parents to provide the best learning experience for all students.  I am proud to be part of that staff and to help continue East Elementary’s fine tradition of learning.  I invite each parent to become actively involved in your child’s education; working together we can ensure that all students achieve their highest potential.  I challenge each student to give your very best effort at all times and to take responsibility for your own learning; you will amaze yourself at what you can do with a positive attitude.

The information contained in the student handbook will help you and your student understand our programs and our expectations.  Copies of the student handbook are distributed at registration and are also available at the school office.  I recommend that you take some time to read through the handbook and discuss the information with your child.  Answers to many questions that parents and students have about procedures at East can be found in the handbook.  If, after reviewing this booklet, you still have questions, please feel free to call the school for assistance or clarification.

I invite each of you to visit our school and your child’s classroom to meet our staff and to participate in activities throughout the school year.  My door is always open to parents and students, and I welcome the opportunity to visit with you about our school.  On behalf of the entire staff, I sincerely hope this will be a very successful year for your student.   I look forward to working with you throughout the year.
