

1. Ride your Bicycle: Riding your bike provides good exercise and it provides speedy transportation. Check out the new bike trail.
2. Walk to the Library: Walking to the library gives your legs a stretch and checking out a book will give your mind something to do later.
3. Go Swimming: The Mountain Home City Pool provides hours of entertainment and exercise. Don't know how to swim? Call Parks and Rec. and sign up for lessons. Swimming is a life skill and an exercise you can do throughout your life.
4. Go to the Park: Mountain Home has several parks that offer a variety of activities providing all sorts of different exercises.
5. Walk to the Elmore County Museum: Not only will you exercise your legs walking but you will exercise your mind.
6. Go Bowling: Bowling is a lifetime sport and provides good exercise.
7. Run around the block with two different colored shoes on. See how many combinations of different colors you can make.
8. Practice cartwheels in the lawn. How many cartwheels can you do before you get dizzy? How about forward rolls?
9. Play hopscotch: Use your favorite colored chalk to draw it out on the sidewalk.
10. Stretch like an animal: See how many different animals you can stretch and imitate.
11. Turn off the TV, turn up the radio: Dance and sing along!
12. Rollerblade to a friend's house: Once you get there ask him/her to go rollerblading with you. Don't accept NO as an answer!
13. Shoot some hoops: Play basketball at a nearby park or school or in the driveway.
14. Jump rope: On your own or with a friend, quietly or with music, a simple jump or practicing tricks, it doesn't matter jumping rope can't be beat for good exercise.
15. Wall Ball: Find a wall without windows. Sometimes even garage doors work. Use a tennis ball and bounce the ball against the wall. Try alternating hands. Try to catch it with one hand. Try using your week hand.
16. Trampolines: Trampolines provide excellent exercise. Make sure you stretch out first and follow the safety rules!
17. Dribbling: Dribbling the ball not only gives you good exercise but it helps develop hand eye coordination. You don't need a big space to practice dribbling. Alternate hands, use your week hand, go between your legs, go behind your back. Turn on some music and dribble to the beat.
18. Kicking: You can practice kicking a soccer ball or playground ball and practice dribbling it. You can do this on your own or with a friend. You don't need soccer goals to practice. Aim at a target. Maybe between two trees? Or against a fence. Or? check with your parents to make sure your target is safe.
19. Jogging: Jogging is good exercise and it helps keep your heart and lungs in shape. Set goals for yourself. Jog around the block a few times. Record your times. See if you can improve. If you don't have a timer that is OK, try increasing your distance each week.
20. Water fights: Water fights are a great way to cool off in the summer and get some exercise. Invite the whole neighborhood over. Get out the hose, the squirt guns, sprinkler, and water balloons. Or set up a car wash and wash your parents' cars.
