Once MHHS varsity athletes, these teachers
returned to coach the next generation of Tiger Pride: |

| Leland Powell Class of '65 |
Varsity Basketball Coach 1981-89;
Varsity Baseball Coach 1976-79. Mr. Powell played center for the Tiger basketball team and was a Southern Idaho Conference all-district player for the '64-'65 season. He went on to play ball for Idaho State University and later the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Powell also lettered in varsity baseball. |
| Lynn Knudson Class of '77 |
Varsity Wrestling Coach As a wrestler for the Tiger squad in the 70s, Mr. Knudson could not have predicted that someday he would lead one wrestling competitor after another to the state championship. Assisting him in the coaching of the highly successful program are two other Tiger graduates: Mr. Mederios and Mr. McCluskey. Mr. Knudson also played football throughout his years at MHHS. |
| Rich Urquidi Class of '84 |
Varsity Track & Field Coach Mr. Urquidi was the starting quarterback of the Tiger football team, point guard for the basketball team, and a the A1 champion in the 300 m intermediate hurdles and anchor of the 4x200 m and 4x400 m relay teams that placed second at state. He ran the 400 m hurdles for the University of Idaho. |
| Scott Mederios Class of '86 |
Varsity Wrestling Coach Mr. Mederios was an all-star letterman in football, wrestling and baseball. As a wrestler, he went on to compete for Boise State University after a decorated high school career (district champion 3 years in a row!). Mr. Mederios played wide receiver on one of the most powerful Tiger football teams in recent memory. On the baseball field, he was a left fielder and lead-off hitter. |
| Denise Nicholas Class of '88 |
7th grade Girls Basketball Coach Ms. Nicholas was a hoopster herself all through her school years at Mountain Home. |
| Phil McCluskey Class of '88 |
Assistant Varsity Football Coach Mr. McCluskey earned letters in football, wrestling and track and field. The diverse athlete played both offense (running back) and defense (corner back) for the Tiger varsity football team. He was a hurdler and pole vaulter, competing at the state track meet in the pole vault event and in the 300 m intermediate hurdles. He competed at state in wrestling and went on to compete for Western Montana College. While at WMC, he placed 5th in the national tournament in 1991 and was the national runner-up in 1992. |
| Jeff Johnson Class of '91 |
Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach,
1998-2001 Mr. Johnson wore the orange and black as a point guard for the varsity basketball team as a pitcher-shortstop for the Tiger nine. Mr. Johnson also played baseball for Whitworth College and then Albertson's College of Idaho. He served as the assistant coach to head coach Lindsay Johnson, his father, and now is the district's athletic director. |
| Albert Longhurst Class of '94 |
Assistant Varsity Football Coach;
Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach; Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach Mr. Longhurst now coaches all the sports he participated in while a student-athlete at MHHS. Mr. Longhurst quarterbacked for the Tiger football squad, played a mean point guard for the basketball team, and was a versatile member on the Tiger baseball team, pitching, catching and fielding third base. |

Freshman Volleyball Coach, 5th &
6th Grade Track Ms. Andrews lettered in volleyball, softball, and golf while a Lady Tiger. |
| Marti Matson Class of '98 |
Assistant Varsity Volleyball
Coach; Assistant Sophomore Girls Basketball Coach. While attending
MHHS, Ms Matson lettered 3 years in volleyball and basketball and letter 1
year in track. At Linfield College, she played volleyball for 3
years. |

Assistant coach for JV football,
boys varsity basketball, and golf. High School lettered in golf, football, basketball, track. Football: 2 1st team all conference award; 2nd Team all-state during senior year; Senior All-Star Game. Basketball: Honorable Mention All Conference Senior year. Academic All Conference Award 9 times |
