Supplemental Health Insurance

AFLAC

Mountain Home School District offers employees the opportunity to participate in valuable supplemental coverage through AFLAC.  These plans pay cash directly to you to help with the loss of income and out of pocket expenses should you or a loved one suffer a serious illness or accident.  Participation is voluntary.  You can participate regardless if you or your family is being covered by any medical plans offered to you as an employee.  Should you leave or retire these plans may be taken with you at the same premium.

The programs include:

CANCER Pays a first occurrence benefit directly to you if internal cancer is diagnosed, and pays $75 annually for wellness checkups.
INTENSIVE CARE Provides $600 to $1000 daily benefits, Sub-Acute Care at $250 per day, and ground or air ambulance transportation.
LIFE ASSURANCE Choose a 10 year Term and/or Whole Life with no medical exam.  Includes Accidental Death Benefit and guaranteed renewable regardless of health conditions.
PERSONAL RECOVERY PLUS Scheduled direct cash benefits for life-threatening events like heart attach, coronary bypass, stroke, coma or paralysis PLUS continuing care benefits.
Contact MHSD Human Resource Department for more information

Life Insurance (optional)

An optional group life insurance plan is available to all employees through PERSI and NCPERS, National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems.

Contact the Human Resources Department for details.

PERSI - PubLic Employee Retirement System Of Idaho

As an employee of a public school in Idaho, who normally works 20 hours or more per week, or a teacher who works half-time or more, you automatically become a member of PERSI.  Employee and employer contributions are determined by PERSI.  A member handbook is available from the Human Resources Department.  Visit the PERSI Web site at www.persi.state.id.us.

Workshops are available on retirement and financial planning.

Cafeteria Plan (optional)
The Mountain Home School District Cafeteria Plan enables the employee to pay, with pre-tax dollars, monthly employee costs for dependent Regency Blue Shield medical/ vision and dental premiums, cancer and income protection insurance.

Once you elect to enroll in the plan and pay your cost of the insurance premiums, you cannot change your election until the next anniversary of the plan -- September of each year.  However, you can make a re-election if a change in family status occurs -- marriage, divorce, death of a spouse or child, birth or adoption of a child, termination or commencement of employment of a spouse.

The designated cafeteria deductions from wages are exempt from Social Security, Medicare, Federal and state income taxes.  However, your Social Security retirement benefit might be somewhat reduced, since you and the District may both be paying less in Social Security on your behalf.  You might decide which benefit is more important to you.

Our plan has made available to employees the sheltering of income protection deductions.  Cafeteria regulations have resulted in payments being taxed if the premium is sheltered.

Participation in the plan is entirely voluntary.  Contact the Human Resources Department for details and forms

Direct Deposit (optional)

Direct deposit is available to any financial institution that accepts Automated Clearing House (ACH) electronic fund transfer files.
