Searching Tips
 

  • Become familiar with a directory search tool and know when to use.
  • Become familiar with at least 3 different search engines.
  • Consult the help options as needed.  These are great!
  • Know what you want and identify the keywords.
  • Use nouns or objects as search words.
  • Be as specific as possible.
  • Check your spelling.
  • Use at least two words in your query.
  • Boolean Operators.  Learn more.
  • Phrases.  Learn more.
  • Truncation/wildcards.  Learn more.
  • Be aware of variations & proximity.  Learn more.
  • Case Sensitivity. Learn more.
