Pamphlet

A pamphlet is a brief treatment of a subject issued as a separate unbound publication.  They are usually short and concise and may cover a particular viewpoint on a subject.  Pamphlets or brochures are usually provided by organizations or agencies.  Libraries may choose to collect pamphlets and organize in a vertical file customized to their needs.

Use a Pamphlet:

  • when looking for condensed information on a topic
  • when trying to find quick facts or viewpoints
Examples:

Finding a Pamphlet:

  • Check with the library staff to see if a vertical file is maintained and obtain the list of subjects.
  • Vertical file materials are usually not available for checkout
