Stamping Internet Images

"Students may use portions of
lawfully acquired copyrighted works in their academic projects, with
proper credit and citations." By stamping the image, the student
gives credit to the website where they obtained the image.

Obtaining Images from the Web
1. Locate the picture,
right-click on it and choose Save Picture As...
2. Save the picture in
your home directory (P drive). Put it in the folder that relates to
your project and rename the picture to help identify it.
3. Do NOT close Explorer but just
minimize.
Obtaining the URL for your image
1.
Return to the website where you located the image.
2. Click on the URL of the web page to highlight it.
3. Once it is highlighted, press CTRL + C to copy the address.
Stamping your Image in Paint
1. Start the Windows Paint
program. (Start | Accessories | Paint)
2. Go the File | Open
3. Navigate back to the picture you just saved and open it. *Make sure that you choose All Files at the bottom of the Open
File dialog box.
4. Use the Text Tool to create a Text box at the bottom of
the pictures. Set the size of the text to 8. (If the picture does not seem to have enough room for the URL< you can
drag the bottom handle down to give you space for a text box.)
5. Press CTRL + V to paste in the URL.
Saving the Stamped Image
1. Save the picture as a
.jpg. Suggestions: Save the picture in the original location with
the original name. This will replace the old unstamped picture.
