The
Mountain Home School District Board of Trustees and District
Administration have closed Liberty Elementary School due to declining
enrollment on the base schools since the 2001 school year. This decision
was not made lightly and was not made last spring in hopes that enrollment
at Liberty would increase this fall; unfortunately, it did not. Only 35
fifth graders and 37 sixth graders enrolled.
Students who were to attend Liberty Elementary in fourth grade will now
attend the Base Primary School. Students in grades 5 and 6 will be bussed
to Hacker Middle School in town. This move provides the 5th and
6th grade students from Liberty the same curriculum and school
opportunities that the district offers at Hacker Middle School.
The
two schools that this affects are working to make this a smooth
transition. We will need time to work out the entire logistics so that we
are ready to house the students at these schools on the first day of
school. We ask for your patience at this time and regret any inconvenience
this move will cause.
